This popular, practical course is a grand introduction to the craft. It gives newcomers
a sound approach and helps self-taught turners sort out problems and develop skills.
The design and production of a range of projects is undertaken. Each task brings into
play important aspects of technique: once grasped, these apply to the making of a host
of turned work. Tool sharpening is dealt with in detail. Personal tools are frequently
brought along so that difficulties can be resolved and edges restored!

Tutor: Andy Rounthwaite
|
Andy Rounthwaite was born and raised in Yorkshire and started wood turning as occupational therapy, having taken ill health retirement. He soon realised that he had found his niche in a fulfilling and immensely enjoyable hobby and was eager to inspire others to do the same, gaining his teaching qualification in 2002. He is happy to talk about any and every aspect of his craft (basically he likes the sound of his own voice (Andy’s words not ours), and enjoys teaching and giving demonstrations. He still turns for the fun of it and believes that everyone should be encouraged to develop his or her own creativity - safely.
Should Andy at any time be unavailable, another tutor of similar calibre will conduct the course.
